This award-winning quadruple threat (singer/songwriter/dancer/actor) entertainer started performing at the young age of 4. She worked alongside Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine in the 1968 film version of the broadway play "Sweet Charity: The Adventures Of A Girl Who Wanted To Be Loved" directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, written by Neil Simon, and with music by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields.
Linda would go on to record a disco version of the Sweet Charity number "If They Could See Me Now" and had her first number #1 single in 1978.
Linda also had small roles in two other notable films that year. The mystery thriller film The Boston Strangler with Tony Curtis and Henry Fonda and the action film Coogan's Bluff with Clint East wood.
In 1971, she appeared with Calypso pop star Harry Belfonte and actor Sidney Poitier in a highly rated NAACP TV special.
After she graduated from High School she abandoned her acting career to pursue a music career.
Eventually, Linda signed with Curtis Mayfield's imprint label Curtom Records after spending a considerable amount a time on the road performing with the Jericho Jazz Singers and and later her own trio, Linda and the Trade Winds.
She racked up alot of hits during throughtout 70's and 80's. Her first album, Linda featured the hit single If My Friends Could See Me Now which shot up to #1 on the billboard charts.
More success followed with her later Curtom releases including Linda’s smash hit Runaway Love, Shoot Your Best Shot (produced by Isaac Hayes), Don’t Come Crying To Me, Between You Baby and Me (a hit duet single with Curtis Mayfield) that led to the pair recording a full length album together entitled The Right Combination.
In 1980, she scored a big hit with the single Red Light, that appeared on the multi-million selling Fame soundtrack album.
However, at the peak of her musical career, Linda decided to concentrate on her personal life and spend more time at home to raise her family.
Linda made a living singing commercial jingles for McDonalds, Cherry Coke, Maybelline, Pontiac, Tropicana, Oldsmobile, Michelob Lite and the theme song to The Phil Donahue Show and the cop drama Chicago. She also found time to record new music for indie Red Label Records. Her 1984 album for Red Label Records, Sneakin' Out, produced two #1 hits on the dance charts ("A Night with the Boys" and "The Heat in Me").
