Syl Johnson began his musical career back in the 50’s when played with blues artists Magic Sam, Billy Boy Arnold,Junior Wells and Howlin' Wolf. He made his solo recording debut in 1959 on Federal Records, a subsidiary ofKing Records of Cincinnati. In the mid 60’s, he began recording for Twinight Records of Chicago before producer Willie Mitchell brought Johnson to Hi Records in 1971.
